Installation Note 33871: Disk swapping fails if you create a SAS® Software Depot for client users when installing SAS software and the DVD drive is set to SONIC DLA Enable
When you create a client image from a SAS Software Depot on the Windows platform and the SAS® Deployment Wizard calls for the next DVD, it might not be able to "find" it. In addition, you might see these behaviors:
- The SAS Deployment Wizard does not autoplay.
- My Computer indicates for the DVD drive that the disk label is blank.
- The properties of the DVD indicate that the file system is unknown.
- Disk swapping fails with an error when creating a Client Users SAS Software Depot.
Following is the error from the Sonic DLA:
Sonic DLA
DLA has located files on your disc that are currently in use.
To avoid possible data loss, save any changes to open files,
close any open applications and retry this operation.
OK
The message indicates that a file is open on the disk, and you cannot eject the DVD. At this point your only option is to exit.
The cause of the problem is either:
- The DVD media is not finalized and/or session not closed.
- Sonic DLA is very sensitive to writable media.
When Sonic DLA is very sensitive to writable media
These behaviors happen if the DVD reader has Sonic DLA enabled. Sonic DLA is software that enables drag and drop functionality to writable removable media, such DVD-R/RW and CDROM-R/RW. When this feature is enabled, DLA inserts itself into the file system as an extension and manages the I/O to the disk.
Disabling Sonic DLA allows the installation to successfully complete from media. Once the installation has exited (or before the it is started), you can disable Sonic DLA by going to the DVD/CDROM properties, selecting the DLA tab, and clearing the Enable DLA on your drives box for all drives.
